Echinococcal cyst of the pancreas and its surgical treatment

This work describes atypical incidence of echinococcal cyst in the pancreas and analyze modalities of surgical treatment of such cases. At the Department of Surgery in F.D.Roosevelt Hospital in Banska Bystrica during period 1994 – 2013 was operated on 18 patients for symptomatic echinococcal cyst, 16 of them was localised in the liver, 2 of them in the pancreas. Perioperative mortality was 0 %, postoperative morbidity was 16,6 %. We also describe the case of young man with pancreatic hydatid cyst who was treated by complete removal of the cyst from pancreatic head.
