Surgical treatment of hepatoblastomas on the border of resectability
This work presents two cases of advanced hepatoblastomas in early childhood in stage PRETEXT 4 respectivly PRETEXT 3 M+ and both cases were primarily nonresectable. In both cases preoperative chemotherapy induced resectability of the tumor and enabled to perform radical operation with negative resection margin – in first case it was right hemihepatectomy with excision of metastasis from left liver lobe, in second case it was extended right hemihepatectomy. Besides review of hepatoblastoma in childhood issues this work shows the value of preoperative oncological treatment as well as the value of preoperative planning with help of 3D computer programms.
