Altemeir´s transanal resection - current alternative treatment of rectal prolapse

The authors report about incidence, symptomatology, diagnostics and treatment of rectal prolapse. They analyse their experience with 19 patients and suggest possibility of surgical treatment of rectal prolapse. There were used these operations: rectopexy, laparoscopic or open rectosigmoidal resection, Delorme´s resection, Altemeier´s transanal rektosigmoidectomy, cerclage and Longo stapler resection. Authors present one case of 87 years old patients with great rectal prolapse, what be with Altemeier´s transanal rektosigmoidectomy resolved.
