Acute limb ischemia and its outcomes
Acute limb ischaemia (ALI) is considered a severe clinical state, that demands emergency diagnostic and therapeutic care. The reason is a higher risk of mortality of patients with ALI. Physical examination and Doppler ultrasound play significant roles in the diagnostics and help to detect location of artery occlusion. Based on Rutherford´s classification and location of artery occlusion, the best management of treatment is chosen. Sudden reperfusion as well as ischaemia presents a high risk for the patient, since it can lead to ischemiareperfusion injury and cause a secondary damage to the tissue.
