The incidence of personality disorders in patients with anxiety disorder

The incidence of co-morbidity in mental disorders is 2,5 times more frequent than in somatic diseases. Anxiety disorders are among the most frequently occurring mental disorders are a serious diagnostic and therapeutic problem, particularly when they occur in co-morbidity with other mental disorders. Three the most frequent occurring comorbid disorders are: personality disorders, mood disorders, and abuse drugs. We present retrospectives own evaluation of these co-morbidities for 12 months in hospitalized patients, the aim was to compare the incidence of personality disorders among patients with anxiety disorder and demonstrate the occurrence of comorbidity. We have identified the presence of personality disorders in almost every third patient with anxiety disorder (27 %); from 17 % for social phobia (F 41.0) to 100 % in agoraphobia (F 40.0) and generalized anxiety disorder (F 41.1). Recognizing this comorbidity could ultimately contribute to more effective treatment and better prognosis.
