Videopolysomnography and it´s use in psychiatry

Sleep medicine is an interdisciplinary clinical field interested in sleep disorders. Sleep medicine was related to mostly neuropsychiatric disciplines (narcolepsia, parasomnia, insomnia) from the historical point of view. Later became a domain of internal medicine disciplines, particularly in connection with diagnostics and treatment of sleep apnea syndrome. Insomnia, hypersomnia (excessive daily sleeping) and exhaustion belongs to nonspecific, but most common clinical symptoms nosologically so far indifferent sleep disorders such as insomnia within psychic disorder, sleep apnoe syndrome or periodical movements of extremities during sleep. Their treatment is different, the right differential diagnostics passes through it. The all night polysomnographic examination is a golden diagnostic standard for various sleep disorders.
