Suicidal behavior and self harming associated with eating disorders
Eating disorders are significantly associated with suicidal behavior. Anorexia nervosa has the highest rates of completed suicide, whereas suicide attempts and self harming behavior are easily found among patients with bulimia nervosa. Risk factors are associated with depression, bordeline personality disorder and substance abuse. Patients with eating disorders should be obligatory assesed for suicidal ideation and self harming behavior.
