Psychosocial consequences of stigma in people with mental illness
Stigmatization represents social prejudice in relation to someone to whom negative characteristics are attributed. One of the most stigmatized groups is the group of people with mental disorders. It is a negative social phenomenon with a long tradition, which is closely related to the development of the concept of mental illness, to insufficient knowledge, fear and prejudices created by society. In the article, the authors focus on selected attributes of the stigma of mental illnesses, through the aspect of social stigmatization, self-stigmatization and psychosocial aspects of the stigma of mental illnesses.
