SLEEPING DISORDERS IN PATIENTS SUFFERING FROM DEMENTIA

Because of the increasing number of old-aged people in our population, the number of patients suffering from degenerative brain disorders is also increasing. Such a disorder is often accompanied by a sleeping disorder. This article deals with the problem of sleeping, which is often due to due dementia (Alzheimer‘s disease, multiinfarct dementia and dementia of Lewy corpuscles) , with clinical syndromes and treatment possibilities. The recomended treatment is a nonpharmacological approach: a consistent 24-hour regime and a sleeping hygiene.
