Postpartum psychosis
Postpartum psychosis is one of several psychological disorders in the postpartum period. Despite the relatively low incidence, it is a very serious condition. Early recognition is crucial not only in relation to the health of the mother but also of the newborn child. It is an interdisciplinary theme, because prodromal symptoms can already be noticed by a gynecologist during early postpartum care. Although today we already know several risk factors for the development of postpartum psychosis, the etiopathogenesis remains unclear and is a constant subject of investigation. It is necessary to iniciate an effective treatment as well as exclude a relatively wide range of somatic complications.
