Using of Psychopharmacs During Pregnancy - Antidepressants and Anxiolytics (Part I)
one third of pregnant women take some psychotropic drugs during pregnancy(5). In spite of this, there is no special drug for pregnant women. As pregnant women are excluded from clinical trials on efficiency and safety of drugs, there are no controlled studies. There is an apprehension about teratogenity, neonatal toxicity, perinatal syndroms and neurobehavioral concequences (4). Psychopharmacological drugs are divided from a risk point of view in accordance with classification FDA (Food and Drug Administration). Majority of psychotropic drugs, including antidepressants and anxiolytics, are in group C, that means risk can not be excluded. Benefits of therapy should prevail the risks. Asessment of benefits and risks of taking drugs during pregnancy is a multidisciplinar problem, that concerns to psychiatrists, gynaecologists and pharmacologists. In conclusion there is one minicase report describing therapy of 31-years old pregnant woman using escitalopram and trazodon because of anxious – depressive syndrom and severe insomnia.
