New perspectives in the treatment of bipolar affective disorder

Bipolar affective disorder is a complex illness encompassing varying degrees of fluctuating disturbances of emotions, behavior and thought over the course of life. An early intervention is very important in slowing down the progression of bipolar affective disorder. Not all patients react to the identical treatment in the same way. From new therapies are expected to address these clinical challenge, and also will be a more effective, better tolerated, and acts faster than currently available treatments. This paper is a complex review of new perspectives on therapeutic targets in bipolar affective disorder.
