Possibilities of diagnosis of cognitive deficit in patients with schizophrenia using tests from the Slovak neuropsychological battery NEUROPSY

Cognitive deficit is traditionally considered to be an important part of the clinical picture of schizophrenic spectrum disorders and also represents a predictor of the patient‘s successful functioning in everyday life. The aim of the work is to compare the cognitive functions of schizophrenia patients and healthy controls using the neuropsychological battery NEUROPSY. The set consisted of 25 participants with schizophrenia disorders and 25 controls. In patients with schizophrenia, we observed significantly impaired performance in most of the selected tests. The most significant differences were in memory and executive functions, especially in problem solving, cognitive flexibility and memory with medium to large effect-size.
