The diagnosis and psychotherapy of emerging addictions

Psychotherapeutic approaches in the treatment of classic and emerging addictions show specifics given the character of the addictions, but the common denominator of treatment still remains working with motivation addicts, education of addicts, insight, individual or group psychotherapy, practicing relaxation techniques and subsequent long-term aftercare. Permanent and consistent abstinence as one of the desired goals of treatment in the case of emerging addiction is a rarely achievable goal and therefore the main aim is the alteration of addiction processes.
