DEPRESSION, CORONARY ARTERY DISEASE, AND MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION

There is a strong relationship between coronary artery disease (CAD) and depression. Patients after myocardial infarction often suffer from depressive disorder and this comorbidity can be explained by some common pathophysiological mechanisms. The selective serotoninreuptake inhibitors are the most feasible pharmacologic treatment of depression after myocardial infarction. It is also important to keep in mind the influence of CAD pharmaceuticals on the human psyche.
