Bipolar affective disorder in a female patient with breast cancer as a complication of anticancer therapy

The authors report on a case of chemotherapy-induced bipolar disorder after non-adjuvant chemotherapy AC-TH in a 45-year-old woman with breast carcinoma. This case report highlights the potential risk of chemotherapy and premedication causing bipolar disorder. At the same time it indicates the need to cooperate with the psychiatrist. Early symptomatic psychopharmacological intervention enabled the smooth completion of non-adjuvant chemotherapy followed by partial mastectomy and axilla exenteration including adjuvant therapy (radiation therapy, biotherapy, hormonal therapy).
