Anankastic personality disorder and comorbid depressive disorder

Anankastic or obsessive-compulsive personality disorder is strongly reflected in personality and behavioral patterns of an individual. It is manifested by excessive perfectionism, conscientiousness and rigidity. This disorder can be comorbid with major depressive disorder. The presence of comorbid disorder may have a negative effect on the treatment of second psychiatric diagnosis. In therapy, we primarily focus on the reduction of current depressive symptoms. After the reduction of symptoms of depression, it is possible to work on changes of maladaptive patterns of experience and behavior associated with anankastic personality traits.
