Herbal drugs recommended by the European Medicines Agency to treat skin diseases

Skin diseases are among the most common health problems affecting people of all ages. In addition to standard pharmacotherapy, medicinal plants and their products are often popularly used to treat skin diseases. The advantage of plant extracts is that their effect on the skin is complex. Thanks to several constituents, these extracts have various activities, including antibacterial and anti-inflammatory. Furthermore, many of them can support wound healing. Such medicinal plants include chamomile, agrimony, yarrow, marigold, oats, echinacea, walnut, witch hazel, melaleuca, mint, sage, oregano, St. John’s wort, nettle, wild pansy and many more. Herbal drugs currently recommended by the European Medicines Agency to treat skin diseases are found in this brief review.
