Opportunities for prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers

Pressure sores are chronic wounds and result from tissue loss due to ischemia from pressure. With the best of care pressure sores are preventable. Management of patients with pressure sores includes the treatment including adequate antibiotic therapy and nutrition, local ulcer treatment, preferably technique of wet therapy and positioning. Wet treatment of the wound can reliable absorb all excrets, can prevent maceration and irritation of wound adges and added substances has analgesic and desinfection effect. Granulation and epitelisation proces could be stimulated. In patients with infection in pressure sores the ulcer surgery is necessary.
