Opportunities and risks of pharmacotherapy in children
Accepting the special features of pharmacotherapy in childhood helps to prevent adverse drug reactions or conversely failure of therapy. Frequent off-label drug use in pediatric population is associated with an increased risk of treatment because it does not respond to the principles of evidence-based medicine. The regulation on medicinal products for paediatric patients that was introduced into practice 7 years ago allows improving children’s health in the European Union.
