Drug interactions in practice
Drug interactions belong to the drug-related problems. They are receiving a great attention of healthcare professionals, scientific community and regulatory authorities. Growing-up of polypharmacy and self-medication, apart from their ability to treat patients successfully, means the risk of interactions. Interactions could contribute to adverse drug reactions or lead to pharmacotherapy failure. However, many interactions are theoretical and may not manifest in real practice. It is very important to identify the drug interaction to avoid their manifestation, with the aim to maximize the effect of pharmacotherapy and minimize its risk.
