Ibuprofen from the point of view of contemporary pharmacist

Ibuprofen is the world’s most widely used drug in the treatment of mild to moderate pain and inflammation. Topical medicines containing ibuprofen (creams, gels, mousses or sprays) are safer alternatives to pharmaceutical forms of systemic effects of ibuprofen. For oral, rectal or intravenous administration of ibuprofen it is important to optimize the dose of ibuprofen according to weight of the patient and indication to minimize adverse effects. Ibuprofen is used as free ibuprofen acid or faster soluble salts – sodium dihydrate, lysinate, arginate. Use of oral ibuprofen is available in tablet form of first and second generation, gelatin capsules, effervescent tablets and granules, orodispersible tablets, syrups and suspensions. To increase the analgesic effect can be use a combination of ibuprofen with paracetamol, caffeine or opioid drugs. To treat the symptoms of flu and cold are suitable combinations of ibuprofen with pseudoephedrine, phenylephrine and chlorpheniramine. In treating pain associated with insomnia can be abroad used a combination of ibuprofen with diphenhydramine and for patients with arthritis is available ibuprofen combination with famotidine.
