Geriatric patient and qualify of life

Population ageing is a highly topical issue also in our country. Human life extension brings along a whole range of healthcare and social problems. This fact raises even more concern when considering the impacts of the state’s and health insurance companies’ medicine policy on patients. The health condition and life expectations influence the quality of ageing, and a deficit model of population ageing results in casting old people aside, to the periphery of society. Age is becoming a reason for discrimination on the labour market. Financial problems and poverty affect not only the quality of life, but also the health condition. Low life standards lead to limited physical, mental and social activities.

Keywords: geriatrics, polymorbidity, pharmacoterapy, quality of life of senior people.
