Bacterial resistance from the perspective of a clinical pharmacist
Bacterial resistance has become a serious problem in hospitals. It is not only medical, but also an economic problem. Nowadays the most problematic resistant strains in the hospital are methicillin resistant staphylococci (MRSA), Klebsiella pneumoniae, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Acinetobacter spp. A good knowledge of resistance and microbiological situation in the hospitals is condition for rational antibiotic use.
