Internet dependence in children and adolescents
Since the internet has been introduced in mobile phones, it is available continuously almost everywhere, and brings a huge, ever-increasing offer. Nowadays already the pre-school children are experiencing the virtual world. Excessive use of the internet damages the physical and psychological health of the person and can lead to psychological addiction. Especially children and adolescents whose ability for cognitive control is weaker than in the adult age are at risk. Many parents have no rules for using virtual world activities for their children, many even use tablets or mobiles to calm their children instead of teaching them to manage situations and emotions differently. They are not aware of the possible risks of harming their mental development, so they need to be educated more about the possible risks and precautions.
