First known case of tick-borne encephalitis with positive clinic symptomatology in a baby in Slovakia
In this article we want to present a case report of tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) in a baby in Slovakia. Nearly two-thirds of Slovakia's territory represent the endemic area of TBE. Over the past years, we have seen a slightly increasing trend in the incidence of the disease. Disease can be underdiagnosed in children as it is more vague and non-specific in childhood, and may leave long-term consequences of neurological and psychological nature. In our case, the disease in the infant showed a positive TBE symptomatology, while three years after the disease the psychosomatic development of the child was evaluated without deviations.
