The characteristics of CAN syndrome at children in the pediatrician´s outpatient facility

The Child Abuse and Neglect (CAN) syndrome represents more and more serious complex of the various forms of cruelty, beating, neglect and abuse of children in the span of their early childhood up to the adulthood. It has serious consequences on the child´s psychic and somatic development. Each form of the CAN syndrome has characteristic features which enable to consider pediatrician on given form of the syndrome. The diagnosis, therapy and prevention of CAN syndrome at children requires close interdisciplinary cooperation including of the function of so called children´s commissioner – child ombudsman.
