Vaccination of pregnant women

Introduction: If a pregnant woman is immunized and make antibodies, they are transported by the placenta to the fetus. This passive immunization protects newborn during the first few months. During breastfeeding partial transfer of antibodies created by the mother to the newborn. Material and methods: This article brings a view of some countries to vaccinate pregnant women. Cited articles come mainly from the USA and UK. In both of the high incidence of pertussis vaccination it started with surface pregnant. Both countries actively vaccinated and seasonal influenza in pregnant. When the need for vaccination of pregnant in specific situations, it is possible to use non-living vaccines. Results:The best-documented efficacy of the vaccine against pertussis in pregnancy is from the UK. After 15 months of initiation of vaccination uptake rates in at 64% of pregnant women have achieved 68% reduction in hospitalizations of children in their first year of life. Used was 5-component pertussis vaccine Repavax (in Slovakia Adacel). Conclusions: Vaccination of pregnant women is well documented, effective and safe.
