Newer nutrition assessment options for toddlers
The principles of good nutrition are based on scientifically researched and proven knowledge in practice. It is a scientific approach that the vast majority of medical and nutrition professionals recognize, follow and promote. Although these principles are commonly and freely available to the general public, the sources of information on nutrition, diet and their importance for health and disease prevention are very diverse and not always scientific, correct, sometimes harmful. The Slovak Pediatric Society has, as one of the priority educational areas, also the nutrition of children and the Initiative of the First 1000 Days, n. o., aims to spread awareness of the importance of proper nutrition in the first thousand days, for lifelong health. NutriCHEQ is a diagnostic-educational tool that is suitable not only for detecting suspected eating disorders, eating habits, but can also significantly help in the education of mothers and parents, especially for children in the 2nd–3rd year of life. We will present practical steps in the use of the NutriCHEQ tool on a specific case study, including the presentation of results and their further processing. Specific outputs point to the advantages and complexity of the tool for pediatrician work and parental education.
