Newborn screening nowadays
Newborn screening is an essential nationwide preventive programme, which identified treatable conditions in their early asymptomatic phase in population of healthy newborns. His history started in 60th years of 20th century. In Slovakia, newborn screening center existing here from 1985. Newborn screening have changed significantly during this period and screened more conditions. Nowadays, there is an ethic question, which conditions will included in newborn screening.
