Neonatal hyperbilirubinemia
Neonatal hyperbilirubinemia is the most common disease occurring in the neonatal department, which in some cases require medical intervention. Neonatal jaundice is presented in almost 80-100% of premature infants and 50-60% in mature newborns. It is a common cause of discharge delay from neonatal departments. Most of the jaundice are benign, but the potential toxicity of bilirubin in late detection, need monitoring and identification of risk newborns. Knowledge of risk factors, prevention and rigorous monitoring of risk newborns and early therapy can help to reduce acute and long-term morbidity, as well as to reduce the number of rehospitalization.
