Not everything is eczema II.
Skin diseases caused by filamentous keratinophilic fungi in children are usually caused by zoophilic species. Animals suffering with fungi may be of little or no clinical symptoms. The children to take care about their pets are infected from small mammals – guinea pig, hamster, rat, or cat and dog. After big joy, comes great worry. On the face, neck or limbs during the 1-2 weeks started one or more inflammatory lesions, slowly grows, bearings of small papules and vesicles create ring or iris arrange. Lesions were diagnosed as eczema, impetigo, herpes. Despite nursing ointments with antibiotics or steroids, the symptoms do not improve. The scalp involvement is created by bearing lesions with broken hair, which after treatment with ointments becomes bearing inflammatory tumor. Manifestations are caused by keratinophilic fungi. Microscopic examination and culture to discover the cause and allow start of effective antifungal therapy. Our aim is to highlight important information on history, clinical manifestations and possibilities of etiological diagnosis, often misdiagnosis, of this group of infectious skin diseases.
