The adverse effects of antiepileptic drugs
Epilepsy is the most common chronic disease of the brain, has repeated seizures. Epilepsy is not a disease entity, it is a group of diseases with different etiology, clinical features, course and treatment. The aim of antiepileptic treatment is to achieve a seizure-free state without affecting mental and physical performance. The treatment is primarily pharmacological, antiepileptics. Seizure-free state is achieved in 70% of patients, but almost half of patients have side effects of treatment. The authors describe the most common adverse effects of antiepileptic treatment.
