Nonsuppurative neuroinfections in pediatric practice

Aseptic meningitis is an inflamatory process of meninges, and is usualy caused by many different etiologic factors. The cereberospinal fluid is characterized by monocytal pleocytosis, increased protein, and the absence of microorganism on routine culture. Usualy, the illneses are self-limited. However, the resulting diseases may be severe, protracted and may lead to psychomotoric damage and death.
