Dermatomycoses in childhood, diagnostics and therapy
The issues of skin and mucosal mycoses in children differ from those in adults. Onychomycosis, a frequent disease in adults, is rare in childhood. The incidence of tinea pedis increases with age, being high in puberty and later. Tinea corporis in our country is caused mainly by zoophilic dermatophytes such as Microsporum canisand Trichophyton mentagrophytes. Tinea capitis is a dermatophytosis specific for children.
