Evaluation of daily feeding diaries of infants aged 6-23 months

Within the framework of the educational program „The first 1000 days of life“ a nationwide survey was conducted to map the current feeding habits of infants aged 6-23 moths in the Slovak Republic. 175 daily feeding diaries were evaluated from children aged 6-11 months (n=60), 12 to 17 months (n=56) and 18-23 months (n= 59) respectively, which were voluntarily provided by their caregiver via an internet page. Analysis of daily nutrition intake revealed, despite the relatively small sample size, significant deficiencies in in certain macro- and micronutrients. The study highlighted the need for nutritional education of this target group with regard not only to the well-being of their child, but also for their own future health.
