Phimosis in childhood
A narrowed foreskin in children can be a physiological as well as a pathological condition that requires appropriate management. The basis of diagnosis is medical history and physical examination. Correctly distinguishing the nature of phimosis is the main prerequisite for the effectiveness and safety of treatment. The article provides an overview of diagnostics, differential diagnostics, conservative and surgical therapy of narrowed foreskin and its complications. There is no medical justification for routine preventive circumcision in male newborns.
