ADENOID VEGETATION AND CHRONIC TONSILLITIS – INDICATIONS
Adenoid vegetation occurs relatively frequently in children of pre-school age. That is why it is necessary to be familiar with the reasons of its genesis, symptoms, possibilities of diagnostic and treatment. The most common complication of non treated adenoid vegetation is midle ear inflamation or hearing loss due to problems in the same area. Focus in adenoid tissue may cause repeated inflamations of upper respiratory tract. It is important to familiarize ourselves with indications for adenotomy as well as with the contraindications to this procedure. Chronic tonsillitis affects mostly elder children or adolescents and in some cases its diagnostic may be problematic. Each patient should be treated individually. The most common reason for tonsilectomy is chronic tonsillitis and sleep apnea syndrome.
