Subcutaneous application of fluids and drugs (utilization options in geriatrics and palliative care)
Subcutaneous infusion of fluids can be used in indicated cases to hydrate an adult patient (especially the elderly). Palliative care utilized this drug administration for symptoms control. When administrated professionally, this method is safe, effective, well tolerated by the patient; can be done at home, thus avoiding unnecessary acute care hospitalizations.
