Prescription of strong opioids in Pain Dpt. F. D. Roosevelt Univ. Hospital Banská Bystrica in the period from 2007 to 2009

Treatment of chronic pain with strong opioids is being rapidly increased in the recent years. The number of patients who use strong opioids to relieve pain in non-cancer origin increased particularly (1). The article provides an overwiev of the prescription of strong opioids in Pain Dpt. F. D. Roosevelt Univ. Hospital Banská Bystrica in 2007, 2008 and 2009. The article provides an overview of strong opioids, which were available within noted years, the number of opioid prescriptions issued in Pain Dpt., comparison of the number of prescribed packages of remedies and the mutual relationship of oral and transdermal application forms of prescribed strong opioids.
