Hydromorphon and it´s place in the treatment of pain
Hydromorphon is one from the oldest and more potent opioids, first synthetisized from morphine in 1924-th. It´s main benefit as compared to morphine, is the superior solubility, speed of onset, stronger effect and less troublesome side effect profile, and also lower dependence liability as compared to morphine and diamorphine. Author briefly deals pharmacology of hydromorphon, it´s benefits and limitations. She points the place of hydromorphon in treatment of pain, with clinical application of two oral forms 12-h and 24-h, that are available in Slovakia in the present.
