Phantom pain

Phantom pain involves complex of various feelings from mild throbbing or involuntary movement of amputated limb to terrible burning, stabbing or shooting pain not only in missing part of body, but at distant parts of body, such as back or head. Mechanism of phantom pain is not fully elucidated. Multimodal treatment includes psychological approaches, pharmacotherapy, physiotherapy and invasive methods such as neurostimulation.
