Systemic treatment of advanced hepatocellular carcinoma
Hepatocellular carcinoma is an aggressive disease most commonly occurring in the field of chonic hepatitis and cirrhosis. Treatment options are limited by liver function reserves determined according to the Child-Pugh classification. They are divided into surgical procedures (resection, cryoablation, transplantation), local ablation methods (radiofrequency/microwave ablation, transarterial embolization, external radiotherapy) and systemic treatment (chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy).
