Skeletal metastases

Skeletal metastases are the most common metastatic manifestations of advanced solid tumors such as breast, prostate, and lung cancer and also occur in other solid tumors and also in some hemato-oncological diseases (multiple myeloma). Skeletal metastases worsen the quality of life and can shorten the survival of cancer patients. Therefore, quick and accurate diagnosis and often differential diagnosis using the entire range of imaging techniques is very important. Early treatment using bisphosphonates or denosumab leads to a reduction in skeletal events, an improvement (maintenance) of the quality of life and may also contribute to an improvement in survival. Prevention and early resolution of adverse events of antiresorptive treatment is very important.
