Radiotherapy of biliary tract cancers

Biliary tract cancers are invasive adenocarcinomas that arise from the epithelial lining of the gallbladder and intrahepatic and extrahepatic bile ducts. Complete surgical resection offers the only chance for cure. There are no established adjuvant treatments in this setting. In this review, we attempt to discuss the current status and key issues involved in the management of biliary tract carcinoma.

Keywords: gall bladder carcinoma, intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma, extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma, radiotherapy.
