MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING IN THE DIAGNOSTICS OF BONE METASTASIS

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the method of choice in the detection of pathological bone marrow changes. Generally, it is highly sensitive in the diagnosis of bone metastasis, especially in the cases of negative bone scintigraphy. The main value of MRI in the diagnostics of bone metastasis is due to its high tissue contrast, good differentiation of anatomical details and due to its multiplanar capability. In addition, based on the evaluation of lesions size reduction and on the change of its signal intensity, it allows a monitoring of the treatment response.
