PRIMARY CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM LYMPHOMA

Primary central nervous lymphoma (PCNSL) is a rare form of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma arising within CNS. PCNSL is of particular interest in the last years for several reasons. First, PCNSL has increased in incidence over the past decades. It is an increasingly important the exact diagnostics of intracranial lesions and the PCNSL should be considered. Second, unlike other primary brain tumor, PCNSL is very radio-chemosenzitive and intensive therapy may lead to prolonged survival, evently to cure. Aggressive and combined therapy may increase the risk of long-termed consequences which may result in a severe neurologic dysfunction and not rarely to death. Optimal diagnostic and treatment procedures are essential for outcome of patients with PCNSL.
