Online decision support tools in oncology
This review article deals with the issue of online risk assessment tools in oncology. In Clinical Oncology, risk assessment has become an essential part of day-to-day patient management. Due to the ever-increasing amount of data on individual malignancies, deciding on the next step can be difficult. The aim of creating online risk assessment tools is to facilitate the process of decision making on the proper management of malignancies. However, such tools have many shortcomings, such as interindividual heterogeneity between patients or lack of validation of these tools, which often leads to incorrect risk estimation. The aim of this review article is to present the most commonly used online risk assessment tools and their advantages and disadvantages. Many risk assessment tools are avaliable at www.noisk.sk
