New research trends in the tumor cell biology − our research activities
Recent development in the understanding of the malignant disease brought deeper understanding of biological differences between the subsets of tumor cells and underlying molecular mechanisms of their diversity. Research focuses on dissecting the tumor heterogeneity, identification of suitable and functional markers. Complex interactions among cancer stem cells, bulk tumor cells, their adjacent nonmalignant structures, organism, and microbiome remain in the center of scientific interest. Scientists of the Cancer Research Institute SAS possess unique wide know-how and suitable infrastructure to contribute to current burning issues in tumor cell biology with original findings and their application to clinical practice.
Keywords: tumor cell, cancer stem cell, exosomes, tumor microenvironment, microbiome, cytoanalytics.
