Management of PSA progression after topical treatment of prostate cancer

Objective: To point at important role of PSA in the management of prostate cancer progression. Case report: Presented case report is focused on post-prostatectomy biochemical progression of prostate cancer. Salvage radiotherapy was delayed with subsequent biochemical recurrence and the development of non-metastatic prostatate cancer resistant to castration. Salvage options in the course of disease are discussed, including the management of castration resistance, where early administration of new antiandrogens represents one of options. Conclusion: Early interventions based on PSA progression improve prognosis of prostate cancer.
